About the project

Effectively part of Ridango’s team, we developed the logic, user experience and design systems behind several client web platforms and mobile applications — account-based ticketing (ABT), automated fare collection (AFC), real-time passenger information (RTPI) and more.

Design goal: one unified logic and user experience for a complex ticketing system Ridango could offer to any client — as close to one-size-fits-all as such a thing gets.

01

Laying the foundation with Estonia’s national train operator

The first task set the foundation for the platform’s new UX. We could not build from the ground up — we had to learn the history of the existing solution and how business rules and technical setup would shape the design. The aim stayed simple: better UX, higher retention, more online ticket sales on Elron’s site.

02

User interviews & testing in Stockholm

By the time we designed the Movingo mobile app we knew Ridango’s product well. It was the right moment to find out what people actually want from a ticketing app, with new features like a real-time timetable on the table.

03

Designing a white-label solution

The interface had to work on several levels at once: flexible and neutral enough for different transport providers in different countries, accessible to a wide range of users young and old, and honest about the business rules and technical setup it lived inside.

04

Testing & iteration

Several rounds, in different formats: pre-live testing on UI prototypes, testing during demo-live phases, and testing selected interactions on live products through a design prototype. Different aims, all necessary for products under this much traffic.

05

On-demand dispatcher tools

On-demand transport is growing, and this was the chance to work out what it could look like — at least from the dispatcher’s side. The scope targeted local municipalities and private operators providing on-demand service to elderly people and people with disabilities.

Let’s build it together.
